Recovery offers many gifts for those who follow the program.
The greatest gift a recovering addict can get is his sane mind.
Before coming to recovery, I never knew I was insane until I started taking a good look at the things I did to get one more.
If that's not insanity, I don't know what is.
Did stopping using drugs fix me?
I still was the same self-centered person I've always been.
I wasn't using any dope.
Please understand that I'm one of those addicts who thought I had a drug problem when I first came into recovery.
I had a lot to learn about the recovery process and the disease of addiction.
I started working on the steps, and when I got to step 3, the idea of turning my will and life over to God sounded real good.
The best way for me to detox my mind is by giving it to Him.
God wants it all, good, bad, and indifferent.
He told me not to lean on my understanding, and I was alright with that.
It was me, depending on my understanding, that got me to recovery in the first place.
Did my mind go through withdrawal?
I relapse mentally often.
I can't turn it over enough to Him.
If you want to heal your mind, you must be willing to surrender it to God.
