The real work is learning how to stay stopped—to face ourselves, our thinking, our wounds, and the patterns that kept us trapped.
And even after some time away from using, addiction can whisper another lie:
“You’re good now. You’re in control. You can do it again whenever you want."
That’s when we have to remember: recovery isn’t about proving we can control the thing that controlled us. It’s about building a life where we no longer need to escape.
