Boundaries are a declaration of self-worth—a way of saying, “This is what I need to protect my peace, my health, and my recovery.” Yet, after drawing that line, it’s common to be met with an unexpected wave of guilt and shame.

Why does this happen?

Much of it comes from old conditioning. Many of us were taught to put others first, to avoid conflict, and to keep the peace at all costs—even if it meant betraying ourselves. When we begin to break that pattern, it can feel like we’re doing something wrong, even when we’re doing something deeply right.
